Assistant Planner
We're looking for an Assistant Planner to join our Thames Valley North team based on projects in the northern Thames Valley patch.
Location: Thames Valley North - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.
Hours: 45 hrs per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
Join Kier as we work with Thames Water on their sewage treatment Lot 1 programme as a strategic delivery partner. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team responsible for non-infrastructure schemes, including upgrades to wastewater treatment works. As an Assistant Planner, you'll play a vital role in driving and monitoring specific packages of works, ensuring plans are created, updated, and aligned with project needs whilst working collaboratively with the wider project team.
What will you be responsible for?
As an Assistant Planner, you'll be working within the Thames Valley North team, supporting them in delivering successful project outcomes. Your day to day will include:
- Creating short interval "lookahead" programmes and monitoring progress with regular updates
- Supporting project delivery teams to ensure short-term goals are well communicated and monitored
- Working closely with project teams to produce accurate progress reports
- Identifying correct sequencing for construction and assisting with phasing
- Comparing programmed activities with reality on site and advising on the effect of any project slippage
What are we looking for?
This role of Assistant Planner is great for you if:
- You're comfortable using Microsoft Office software (Primavera P6 training can be provided)
- You have experience in planning, site management, or engineering with a main contractor delivering construction projects
- You possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working collaboratively across teams
- You have a keen eye for detail and are highly organised, able to work to deadlines
- You have a willingness to learn, ask questions, and develop innovative solutions
We're all about finding potential here at Kier, and transferrable skills are always welcome! So, even if you don't tick every box, please apply and we can have a chat.
Rewards and benefits
We're proud to be able to offer our brilliant people a wide variety of benefits that you can tailor to your needs. You can see more information of benefits here.
Diversity and inclusion
Making Kier a diverse and inclusive place to work is a huge priority for us. We're proud of the steps we've taken so far, but we know we must always do more. Our employees are key in shaping Kier's diversity and inclusion initiatives and our people have made a huge impact on how we work, by using their experiences to shape our policies. You can see our D&I action plan here. As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum criteria for this role will be offered an interview.
We look forward to seeing your application to #joinkier #LI-CH1.
