Agent

We're looking for an Agent to join our rail team based in Oxford. Oxford Station Phase 2 works is a multi-discipline station upgrade project that will increase station capacity (constructing an additional platform) and improve road and pedestrian infrastructure (widened Botley Road and path / cycle ways), these works will require replacement of an existing 4 road railway bridge and associated additional spans over road, highway lowering and realignment. A programme of complicated utilities diversions are required to facilitate these works. Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire

Hours: 42.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

 

What will you be responsible for?

As Agent, you'll be working within the Kier Rail team, assisting the Oxford team and with Network Rail, taking ownership of a project by managing resources (people, finance and physical assets) in a safe and timely manner to the required quality.

Your day to day will include:

  • Leading a significant section of the project as the Site Agent, supporting the implementation and monitoring of health & safety policies and procedures in accordance with Kier and Network Rail standards
  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of performance excellence, promoting integrated working with other members within the project, creating a one-team ethos, including development of team members
  • Taking full ownership and accountability for cost management of your project, ensuring robust control of target cost, actual costs and forecasts through commercial awareness
  • Ensuring all labour, plant, materials and supply chain resources are accurately recorded, identifying areas of opportunity and improvement
  • Creating a programme planning and measuring the day-to-day activities and medium term plan against the contract programme

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Agent is great for you if:

  • You hold experience in a similar level role within rail, construction or civils, along with the relevant qualifications and a chartered member of the ICE (or working towards)
  • Proven capability working on Network Rail projects, or in a comparable setting, able to take the lead with client interfaces
  • Able to establish project requirements and drive the team to deliver the outcomes in terms of quality, cost and programme
