We're looking for an Assistant Commercial Accountant to join our KierBAM Joint Venture team based in Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.
Hours: 42.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks. Eligibility criteria: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

Join the Commercial team of the KierBAM Joint Venture, a partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall. We're currently delivering a large redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth, worth approximately £600m over the next five years. This is a piece of critical national infrastructure, and your role will support accurate financial records and commercial decision-making through careful analysis of financial and commercial data.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Commercial Accountant, you'll be working within the Commercial team, supporting them in delivering financial accuracy and commercial insight for this significant infrastructure project. Your day to day will include:

  • Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations
  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting on commercial costs, margins and variances
  • Assisting in budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
  • Preparing and posting journals and intercompany recharges
  • Liaising with internal teams and external clients or suppliers regarding financial transactions

What are we looking for?

This role of Assistant Commercial Accountant is great for you if:

  • You are CCAB part-qualified or AAT fully qualified
  • You have strong working knowledge of accounting principles and commercial finance
  • You're proficient in accounting applications and MS Excel with strong analytical and numerical skills
  • You have excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • You can attend the office at least twice weekly to enable a thorough understanding of site operations and needs
