Document Controller
We're looking for a Document Controller to join our Devonport Royal Dockyard team based in Plymouth.
Location: Plymouth, Devonport Royal Dockyard - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.
Hours: 42.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
Due to the sensitive nature of this site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
We're seeking an experienced Document Controller to join our team at Devonport Royal Dockyard. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the effective management and control of project documentation throughout the full project lifecycle. You'll work within a collaborative environment, ensuring that accurate, up-to-date information is available to project teams and stakeholders, whilst maintaining the highest standards of compliance and quality assurance.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Document Controller, you'll be working within the project team, supporting them in delivering efficient information management processes. Your day to day will include:
- Managing and controlling project documentation in electronic and hard copy formats, ensuring accuracy, version control and compliance with project procedures
- Coordinating document workflows including review, approval, distribution and archiving in line with contractual requirements and industry standards
- Maintaining electronic document management systems and ensuring all information is correctly stored, classified and accessible to relevant stakeholders
- Tracking document transmittals, chasing overdue responses and supporting Requests for Information to keep projects on schedule
- Supporting quality assurance, audits and project close-out activities by providing accurate records and evidence trails
What are we looking for?
This role of Document Controller is great for you if:
- You have proven experience in document control or document management within construction, engineering, infrastructure or a regulated environment
- You're confident using Electronic Document Management Systems such as ProjectWise, Aconex, Asite or similar platforms
- You have excellent attention to detail and can manage high volumes of documentation to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy
- You understand document control principles including version control, approvals and audit trails, along with data protection and information security requirements
- You're highly organised with clear communication skills and a proactive approach to supporting project teams
