Electrical Design Engineer

We're looking for an Electrical  Design Engineer to join our MEICA team based in Salford within the water sector. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Location: Salford
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
Salary: starting from £40,000 per year

Are you…

  • A Chartered Engineer with membership of an appropriate Professional Body (IET or IMechE)
  • Experienced within the water, wastewater or process related industries, including hydraulic design and pumping systems
  • Knowledgeable in all relevant Engineering Standards and SHE requirements
  • Competent with cable design software (Amtech) and interpretation of P&IDs, SLDs and loop diagrams
  • Able to pass the BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements

What will you be responsible for?

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll be working within the MEICA team, supporting them in delivering complex infrastructure projects from concept to commissioning.

You'll be involved in specifying, designing, reviewing and assuring electrical and ICA installations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, water industry standards, and company engineering specifications. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you'll coordinate design activities, support project delivery, and ensure safe, reliable, compliant and cost-effective solutions that make a real difference to essential infrastructure.

Your day to day will include:

  • Agreeing Electrical and ICA design requirements from the client remit, ensuring it is fully understood and challenging where necessary
  • Producing and checking technical specifications, functional design specifications, control philosophies, panel schedules and instrumentation schedules
  • Specifying LV electrical equipment including MCCs, motor starters, drives, transformers and power distribution panels
  • Conducting site visits, surveys and inspections, reporting on safety issues and attending meetings on behalf of Kier
  • Working collaboratively with civil, mechanical and process engineers to ensure integrated and efficient asset design
