Engineer

We're looking for an Engineer – Drainage and Water to join our team based in Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Hours: 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…

• Demonstrating technical competence in Drainage & Water engineering, with experience delivering tasks across one or more sectors (Building & Development, Transportation, Water Utilities, Flood & Water Management)
• Able to work autonomously at a task level, taking ownership of technical outputs while supporting wider package delivery
• Experienced in applying relevant design standards, regulations, and quality processes consistently
• Comfortable collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders, contributing effectively to integrated delivery
• Holding a Full driving licence and willing to travel as required

What will you be responsible for?

As an Engineer – Drainage and Water, you'll be working within the Design Team Leader team. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality, compliant, and sustainable Drainage & Water solutions across a variety of exciting projects. You'll contribute to design coordination, provide technical input, and support the team in maintaining consistent standards and best practice. Working across disciplines such as Building & Development Drainage, Transportation Drainage, Water, and Flood & Water Management, you'll play a key role in helping to ensure programme, budget, and risk commitments are met while supporting knowledge sharing within the team.

Your day to day will include:

• Delivering assigned tasks within work packages to a high standard, taking ownership of technical outputs and ensuring they are coordinated, compliant, and sustainable
• Applying relevant design standards, regulations, and quality processes consistently, contributing technical input and supporting quality assurance and design reviews
• Managing the delivery of individual tasks within the programme and budget, escalating issues and proposing solutions to maintain overall package performance
• Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring task-level outputs integrate smoothly with wider project delivery
• Contributing to knowledge sharing and technical development within the team, providing informal guidance or mentoring to early-career engineers or apprentices where appropriate
