Engineer
We're looking for a Gas Engineer to join our Staffordshire Fire & Rescue team based in Staffordshire (Primarily), Oldham, Sheffield.
Location: Staffordshire (Primarily), Oldham, Sheffield
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am till 5pm - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
As a Gas Engineer, you'll be working on our mobile contract delivering planned maintenance and reactive tasks across the Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Contract, while also covering Sheffield and Oldham Schools Contracts for servicing. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team where your technical expertise and commitment to safety will make a real difference. Out of hours on call cover will be required for this role.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Gas Engineer, you'll be working within the Staffordshire Fire & Rescue team, supporting them in delivering a safe, cost effective, compliant service. Your day to day will include:
- Maintenance and reactive repair to gas equipment including boilers, water heaters, air heaters, radiant tube heaters and pipework testing to current regulations and standards
- Attending and completing both reactive and planned maintenance tasks within agreed timescales
- Managing unsafe situations via warning notices and communicating with clients on behalf of the company
- Managing workloads, meeting deadlines, and arranging quotations for remedial jobs over £500
- Supporting the wellbeing of your teams and ensuring an inclusive workplace where diversity of thought, backgrounds and experience is actively encouraged
What are we looking for?
This role of Gas Engineer is great for you if:
- You're commercially gas qualified in gas boilers, water heaters, tube heaters, gas air heaters, pipework, tightness testing and purging (COCN1; CENWAT1; CCP1; CDGA1; CORT1; TPCP1)
- You understand SFG20 and can deliver works to a timescale
- You hold an NVQ in Mechanical and/or Electrical to support your gas qualifications (preferred)
- You hold a full driving licence as this is a mobile role
- You're competent in general engineering works with a multi-skilled background or bias towards mechanical and electrical trades
