Graduate Building Services Engineer 2027

We're looking for a Graduate Building Services Engineer to join our Kier Mechanical & Electrical team based in the Northampton region.

Location: Rushden, Northampton
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £31000 + Car Allowance (on some contracts)
Pathway: Permanent, Full-time 2-year programme, leading to assistant level role upon completion with salary potential of CIRCA £38k
Start: September 2027

As a Graduate Building Services Engineer, you'll be joining a successful team responsible for the tendering, pre-construction, design, construction, and commissioning of MEP building services systems. You will collaborate with our teams through the whole project lifecycle, gaining a structured insight and understanding of the business functions. This opportunity will allow you to develop your skills and guide your future career path selection within our internal MEP self-delivery design and build business.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Graduate Building Services Engineer, you'll be working within the Kier Mechanical & Electrical team, supporting them in delivering exciting and varied projects across different sectors. Your day to day will include:

• Assisting in the design, development, coordination, and construction of building services systems
• Working closely with engineers to develop design concepts that meet client specifications and comply with industry standards
• Conducting site visits and surveys to gather data and ensure designs are implemented correctly
• Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of building services
• Supporting the testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building services systems

What are we looking for?

This role of Graduate Building Services Engineer is great for you if:

• You have a degree in building services engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• You have a strong interest in building services engineering and a passion for sustainable design and construction
• You have an understanding of software such as AutoCAD and Revit or other relevant engineering tools
• You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• You have effective communication skills and can work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Full UK driving licence
