Head of Capability
We're looking for a Head of Automation to join our Kier Design team based Nationwide.
Location: Nationwide
Hours: 40 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
As the Head of Automation for Kier Design, you'll lead the development and delivery of our long-term automation strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation across our design business, working collaboratively with our Senior Leadership Team and technical experts to identify opportunities that create real value and efficiency for both our business and clients. You'll be at the forefront of transforming how we work, building capability and delivering solutions that make a tangible difference.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Head of Automation, you'll be working within the Kier Design team, supporting them in delivering a 5-year automation strategy that drives efficiency and value. You'll lead the development and delivery of our long-term automation strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation across our design business, working collaboratively with our Senior Leadership Team and technical experts to identify opportunities that create real value and efficiency for both our business and clients. You'll be at the forefront of transforming how we work, building capability and delivering solutions that make a tangible difference.
Your day to day will include:
- Developing and implementing the Kier Design automation strategy, building a prioritised pipeline of opportunities across technical capabilities
- Establishing business cases for automations, including benefits statements, development costs and return on investment
- Managing the resourcing plan and building an internal network of automation engineers to deliver the pipeline
- Leading the roll-out of automations including training, guidance and implementation of value models
- Measuring and reporting on the value created through automation to the Senior Leadership Team
What are we looking for?
This role of Head of Automation is great for you if:
- You hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and membership of a relevant professional body (ICE, CIHT)
- You have a demonstrable track record of developing automations within a civil engineering design environment
- You possess strong coding experience and have coached others to develop their coding capability
- You have team management experience and can lead remote groups effectively
- You have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across diverse technical fields and engage senior stakeholders
