Industrial Placement - Civil Engineer- 2027

We're looking for a Industrial Placement Civil Engineering Student to join our Infrastructure team based on our prestigious Sizewell C project in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Location: Ipswich, Suffolk 

Starting Salary: £27,976 per annum  

Pathway: 12 Months – 40hrs per week, with the potential to lead onto a Graduate position 

Starting date: September 2027

What you will be responsible for? 

As an Industrial Placement Civil Engineer, you'll be assisting in the planning & coordination, design & management of construction projects and on-site activities in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and develop a strong foundation in quantity surveying.  

What will your day-to-day duties include? 

• Assisting in the planning, execution, and management of projects relevant to your field of study.
• Collaborating with team members and stakeholders to support project objectives.
• Conducting research and analysis to inform project decisions and strategies.
• Preparing reports, presentations, and documentation related to project activities.
• Participating in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving and decision-making processes.

The programme will take 12-months to complete and has been designed to immerse yourself in the world of construction, you'll get to see your learnings in real world situations and gain practical experiences to support the rest of your degree.

What are we looking for? 

We're on the lookout for students undertaking a degree in Civil Engineering, who have the option or requirement to complete a placement year from 2027 - 2028. After your placement, you'll be returning to university with a graduation year of 2029. 

• Degree (or working towards a degree) which is ICE accredited in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrates a genuine interest in pursuing a career in civil engineering and the construction industry, with clear motivation to learn and develop professionally.
• Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking to assess situations and problem solve with strong attention to detail.
• Shows enthusiasm for learning new skills and knowledge, and the ability to adapt in response to feedback.
• Works effectively as part of a team, demonstrating collaboration, reliability, and respect for others.
• Hold a full UK driver license.
