Industrial Placement – Design Manager

We're looking for an Industrial Placement Construction Design Manager to join our team based in the Cardiff region. 

Location: Cardiff
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £27,976 pro rata
Start: September 2027

This is an exciting opportunity for a degree student seeking a placement year to gain valuable hands-on experience and begin building a successful career in construction design management. 
You will assist in coordinating and managing the design aspects of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring drawings and designs are produced on time and are easy to understand. This role offers hands-on experience, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and opportunities for professional growth in a supportive environment.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Industrial Placement Construction Design Manager, you'll be working within the design team, supporting them in delivering successful construction projects.

Your day to day will include:

• Coordinating and managing the design process for construction projects in collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients
• Reviewing and analysing project drawings, plans, and specifications for accuracy and compliance with standards
• Supporting the development of design solutions that align with project objectives, budget, and timeline
• Preparing design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports
• Conducting site visits to understand project requirements and gather relevant data

• You hold a degree in Architectural Technology, Construction Project Management, Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in design management and the construction industry, with clear motivation to learn and grow
• Have strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks whilst maintaining high standards
• Work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating collaboration, reliability, and respect for others
• You hold a full UK driving licence
