KME is an internal MEP self-delivery business within the Kier group, supporting regional businesses across the UK on complex and challenging projects ranging from £5m to £150m. With a track record spanning over 50 years, we have full design, construct, and commissioning capability. As a MEP Design Manager, you'll play a key role in managing design solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements while maximising project success and profitability.

What will you be responsible for?

As an MEP Design Manager, you'll be working within the KME team, supporting them in delivering successful design solutions across multiple or large schemes. Your day to day will include:

  • Managing all design and working drawing activities in line with agreed budgets, scope and programme, ensuring alignment with project milestones
  • Leading design safety reviews and ensuring CDM requirements are fully incorporated into the design process and deliverables
  • Managing external design teams and BIM resources in a collaborative manner, ensuring clear scopes and contractual alignment
  • Implementing quality assurance processes and ensuring technical compliance of design solutions in collaboration with Design Engineers and Consultants
  • Building and maintaining effective client relationships, providing clear and accurate design status reports and managing expectations throughout delivery

What are we looking for?

This role of MEP Design Manager is great for you if:

  • You have significant experience as an MEP design manager working for a main or Tier 1 MEP contractor
  • You have proven experience in delivering multiple medium schemes or large complex schemes with strong technical understanding of MEPH services and their interfaces
  • You have demonstrable experience of managing and leading teams to achieve multiple objectives, with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • You hold a CSCS card and have a good understanding of main forms of contract such as JCT and NEC
  • You are a proactive problem solver with strong organisational skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and able to clearly communicate expectations both internally and externally
