Operative
We're looking for an Operative to join our South West Water team based in Paignton or Exeter.
Location: Paignton or Exeter
Hours: 45 hours per week. Shifts covering Monday to Sunday with opportunities to earn overtime and join an on call rota.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
As a Reinstatement Operative, you'll play a key role in supporting the South West Water contract. You'll be responsible for reinstating highways and surfaces following excavation works for water mains repairs, new connections, and other essential utilities projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll help deliver high-quality results that keep our communities connected and supported.
What will you be responsible for?
As an Operative, you'll be working within the Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team, supporting them in delivering essential reinstatement works. Your day to day will include:
- Carrying out high-quality reinstatement works including tarmac, concrete, and modular paving following excavation
- Ensuring reinstatement meets HAUC and local authority specifications
- Operating plant and machinery safely such as rollers and compactors
- Completing job documentation using tablet-based systems
- Maintaining site safety and traffic management compliance while working collaboratively with excavation and repair teams
What are we looking for?
This role of Operative is great for you if:
- You have a Full driving licence
- You have previous experience in highway reinstatement or utilities reinstatement
- You hold a CSCS card, EUSR Water Hygiene, or NRSWA certification (training can be provided)
