We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Building Solutions North team based in Leeds or Sheffield.

Location: Leeds or Sheffield
Hours: 08:30 – 17:00 - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Join Kier Places – Building Solutions North, where you'll play a vital role in managing the commercial resources of exciting construction projects. Our portfolio includes refurbishments, small new build projects, and high-rise building works, with contract values typically ranging from £5m to £15m. We work with prestigious clients across the public and private sectors, delivering high-quality projects that make a positive difference to communities across the UK.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the Building Solutions North team, supporting them in maximising project profitability and managing commercial resources. Your day to day will include:

  • Managing commercial resources to maximise planned gross margin through effective contract and subcontract placement and control
  • Tendering, evaluating and appointing subcontractors, consultants and placing orders for materials and plant all within delegated authorities
  • Identifying, evaluating and negotiating variations to contracts with customers and suppliers
  • Measuring and valuing work to support invoicing customers and payment to suppliers, whilst managing cash flow
  • Producing monthly reports and forecasts, assessing commercial risks and implementing mitigation strategies

What are we looking for?

This role of Quantity Surveyor is great for you if:

  • You have clear communication skills with experience working effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, sub-contractors and the supply chain
  • You hold relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying (Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying desirable)
  • You have demonstrable experience in a similar role within the construction industry
  • You possess strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, work to deadlines and use your own initiative
  • You're proficient in IT packages including Microsoft Office and can adapt to bespoke software systems
