Senior Design Manager
We're looking for a Senior Design Manager / CEM to join our Assured Delivery team based Nationwide within the Transportation Rail team. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.
Location: Nationwide ( 1 role North / North West England and 1 role South / Midlands)
Hours: 42 Hours - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…
- Holding a Masters or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in an engineering discipline
- CEng/IEng with appropriate institution or working towards
- Experienced in leading multi-disciplinary projects or complex engineering and construction projects
- Knowledgeable in CDM 2015 and design-related health and safety risk management
- In possession of a full driving licence
- Have undertaken the Network Rail CEM role, undertaken a deputy CEM role or have been a CRE on multidisciplinary schemes and ready to step up into the CEM role
What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Design Manager, you'll be working within the Assured Delivery team, supporting them in leading design management and engineering assurance of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. You'll work across a diverse range of projects in the Transportation sector in Rail and Aviation, providing management and delivery of design and technical engineering support for projects and tenders. You'll be ensuring design programmes, engineering and quality standards are met whilst managing interfaces between stakeholders, design teams and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
This role offers the chance to work on meaningful projects that make a real difference, with plenty of scope to develop your skills and progress your career in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Your day to day will include:
- Leading tender and Early Contractor Involvement with technical support and management of design for innovative, compliant and value engineered solutions
- Managing technical aspects of design and maintaining control of design budgets and team utilisation
- Owning the engineering deliverables schedule and ensuring timely production and approval of engineering deliverables
- Leading engineering assurance for design and construction, ensuring compliance to CDM, relevant legislation and technical requirements
- Managing interfaces between design and construction teams throughout project development lifecycle
