We're looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our Assured Delivery Team working on the URENCO scheme in Chester within the nuclear sector. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Location: Chester
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

Are you…

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction, Architecture or a related discipline
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with a recognised professional institution
  • Experienced in leading multidisciplinary design teams on major infrastructure, energy, nuclear or highly regulated projects
  • Knowledgeable in BIM-enabled design delivery and collaborative working within integrated project teams
  • Familiar with NEC contracts, CDM regulations, risk management and change control processes

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Design Manager, you'll be working within the team, supporting them in delivering a safe, compliant, integrated and buildable design solution. Leading the design function on a major nuclear infrastructure development at Urenco's Capenhurst site. The Tails Management Facility (TMF) Kilns 3 & 4 Project will increase deconversion processing capacity through the design, construction and handover of three new facilities. You'll be responsible for leading the development of design from RIBA Stage 3 through to a fully coordinated, assured and construction-ready solution, working collaboratively with an integrated delivery team including Kier, AECOM, Urenco, Bechtel and supply chain partners.

Your day to day will include:

  • Leading the overall design function and establishing design strategy, management processes and governance arrangements
  • Acting as the principal design interface with Urenco, Bechtel, AECOM, FEED designers, MEP and Process design teams, regulators and key stakeholders
  • Leading progressive assurance activities through formal multidisciplinary design reviews and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Integrating design activities within the project programme and monitoring performance against agreed milestones
  • Championing BIM and digital delivery, ensuring design information is coordinated, secure and compliant with project requirements
