Site Engineer

We're looking for a Site Engineer to join our East West Rail team based in St Neots. Working within an established Trial Trenching and Geotechnical investigation team at the East West Rail project, you'll be responsible for supporting the Section Engineer to specify, schedule and manage engineering resources.

Location: St Neots
Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

What will you be responsible for?

As a Site Engineer, you'll be working within the East West Rail team, supporting them in delivering high-quality engineering solutions. Your day to day will include:

  • Managing and controlling your section of work according to agreed programmes and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Setting out all aspects of the works and maintaining records to form as-built information
  • Overseeing in-situ soil and rock testing, including Standard Penetration Tests, Hand Shear Vane, CBR, and BRE 365 soakaway tests
  • Undertaking utilities clearance and ensuring safe trial trenching to identify, locate and expose underground utilities before excavation begins
  • Producing daily diaries, photographic records, and as-built drawings to support project delivery

What are we looking for?

This Site Engineer role could be perfect if you have:

  • A degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline, or are currently working towards one
  • A valid CSCS card and full UK driving licence
  • Experience setting out works using a range of surveying equipment, with knowledge of CAD software
  • Previous experience delivering ground investigation works and managing subcontractors on site
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and quality, ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times
