Site Manager
We're looking for a Site Manager to join our HMP Glasgow team based in Glasgow.
Location: HMP Glasgow, Glasgow
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
Kier Construction has been appointed to deliver one of Scotland's largest ever construction projects. HMP Glasgow will provide a safe, secure, energy-efficient custodial facility to house 2,000 inmates and staff located northeast of Glasgow city. This £750 million project will replace Glasgow's ageing Barlinnie prison with a rehabilitation-focused modern facility, utilising cutting-edge Modern Methods of Construction, making this a true flagship project for the Scottish construction sector and Kier Construction.
As a Site Manager, you'll be aligned to a section of the project, working on large new-build elements to ensure safe and quality-focused delivery. You'll play an active role in coordinating construction activities, supervising subcontractors and Kier staff, and delivering operational targets in line with the construction programme.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Site Manager, you'll be working within the project team, supporting them in delivering this landmark construction project safely and to the highest standards. Your day-to-day will include:
- Directing subcontractor partners to safely deliver work packages and checking work meets programme, design, and quality standards
- Reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure safe and appropriate working methods
- Coordinating site logistics, including the movement of plant and labour, whilst maintaining safety at all times
- Managing the onsite supply chain and internal teams, reporting any issues or programme slippages to the Project Manager
- Creating, logging, and filing site reports and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
What are we looking for?
This role of Site Manager is great for you if:
- You have prior experience in a site management capacity within a large construction environment
- You possess a strong technical understanding of full build construction, including frames, envelope, roofing, and internals
- You hold a relevant construction qualification (HND/Degree/SVQ or Technical Trade), SMSTS 5 Day Certification, CSCS Card, First Aid Certificate, and Full driving licence
- You have excellent communication skills and can work collaboratively across the supply chain and with internal and external stakeholders
- You're passionate about health and safety, confident in speaking up to ensure protocols and best practices are followed, and IT literate
