Sustainability Director
We're looking for a Sustainability Director to join our Infrastructure Division team based in a flexible location with ability to travel UK wide.
Location: Flexible with ability to travel UK wide
Hours: Full time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

The Sustainability Director is responsible for shaping, leading and embedding the Infrastructure division's sustainability strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity to translate Kier's Building for a Sustainable World Strategy into a clear divisional plan, creating long-term sustainable value for our clients, customers, communities, colleagues and investors. You'll be working collaboratively with divisional leadership teams, operational teams, clients and supply chain partners, role modelling visible, inclusive and accountable leadership behaviours. This role reports to the People Director on the Infrastructure Board and is a key member of the Infrastructure leadership community.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Sustainability Director, you'll be working within the Infrastructure leadership community team, supporting them in delivering the divisional sustainability agenda and influencing strategic decisions. Your day to day will include:
- Leading the design, delivery and review of the Infrastructure divisional sustainability plan, aligned to Kier's Building for a Sustainable World Strategy
- Setting, monitoring and reviewing divisional sustainability performance measures and KPIs, ensuring visibility through ESG reporting and governance
- Driving delivery of social value, ethical labour strategy and social mobility milestone plans across the division
- Supporting strategic work winning and bidding activity, ensuring sustainability is embedded as a clear differentiator in client propositions
- Building capability in the workforce on sustainability and leading a high-performing team to deliver strong business outcomes
What are we looking for?
This role of Sustainability Director is great for you if:
- You have significant senior leadership experience in sustainability or ESG, with a proven track record of delivering organisation-wide strategies
- You possess recognised expertise across multiple sustainability domains including climate, social value, ethical labour and supply chain
- You have demonstrable experience influencing at executive and board level, shaping strategic direction and embedding sustainability into core business decisions
- You excel at leading cross-functional delivery, working effectively across HR, operations, procurement and commercial teams
- You're commercially aware and outcome-focused, with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a data-driven mindset
