Utility Detection Technician - Join a team that keeps essential infrastructure moving safely.

We're looking for a Utility Detection Technician to join our team in Wymondham, Norfolk, helping to protect people, projects and critical services across our highway operations. If you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems and using specialist technology to make a real impact, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Location: Wymondham, Norfolk – site based 5 days per week
Hours: Permanent Fulltime 45 hours per week
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role

What you'll be responsible for?

As a Utility Detection Technician, you'll play a vital role in preventing utility strikes and ensuring our projects are delivered safely and efficiently. Using cutting-edge surveying technology, you'll help project teams understand what's beneath the surface before work begins.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out detailed site surveys to identify and map underground and overhead utilities
  • Using specialist equipment including Ground Penetration Radar (GPR), CAT and Genny to locate and investigate services
  • Marking and recording utility locations accurately and communicating findings to operational teams
  • Interpreting utility drawings and translating technical information into clear, practical guidance
  • Supporting Safe Systems of Work and providing expert advice during planned works and site emergencies

This Utility Detection Technician role is ideal if you:

  • Have experience in utility detection, utility mapping or site surveying
  • Take pride in accuracy and have a strong eye for detail
  • Enjoy working outdoors and tackling varied challenges across multiple sites
  • Communicate confidently and can explain technical information clearly to different audiences
  • Thrive in a team environment while also being comfortable working independently when required
