Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We're looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Construction team based in flexible, agile working locations where possible.

Location: Flexible, agile working where possible
Hours: Full-time – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

This is an excellent opportunity to join Kier Construction, where you'll play a vital role in supporting our commercial activities across a diverse range of projects. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining valuable experience whilst contributing to the successful delivery of projects that make a real difference to communities.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the Construction team, supporting them in maximising planned gross margins and managing commercial and contractual risks. Your day to day will include:

  • Supporting the Quantity Surveyor with all commercial matters, including contract administration and record keeping
  • Assisting with the appointment of contractors and subcontractors, and placing orders for materials and plant
  • Supporting the negotiation and agreement of contract variations with customers and suppliers
  • Helping with the measurement and valuation of work to support invoicing and payments
  • Assisting with the development and management of commercial relationships with customers, contractors and subcontractors

  • You have clear communication skills and experience working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and the wider supply chain
  • You're a critical thinker who takes initiative and maintains exacting standards
  • You have good organisational skills and can prioritise your workload to meet deadlines
  • You're flexible and able to work both as part of a team and using your own initiative
  • You're willing to undertake training and development to progress your career
