Commercial Manager

We're looking for a Commercial Manager to join our Hogsmill STW team based in Hogsmill, Surrey.

Location: Hogsmill STW, Surrey
Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

Join us as a Commercial Manager on one of Kier's flagship wastewater infrastructure schemes. You'll lead commercial, financial and contractual management for the Hogsmill STW upgrade project, ensuring effective cost control, risk management, and commercial governance. This Thames Water Major Project operates under an IChemE Burgundy Book contract, offering you the opportunity to make a real impact on vital public services. You'll work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment where your commercial expertise will drive project success from pre-construction through to final account.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Commercial Manager, you'll be working within the Hogsmill STW team, supporting them in delivering successful project outcomes. Your day to day will include:

  • Leading all commercial aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and providing strategic advice to the project leadership team
  • Managing and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors, setting objectives and fostering a high-performance culture centred on collaboration and accuracy
  • Establishing and maintaining robust cost management processes including forecasting, budget reporting and leading value engineering initiatives
  • Overseeing procurement, tendering and managing subcontract accounts through valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Producing monthly commercial reports and maintaining risk and opportunity registers with proactive mitigation actions

What are we looking for?

This role of Commercial Manager is great for you if:

  • You have demonstrable experience on UK water capital programmes with MEICA or process engineering project exposure
  • You hold relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, ideally RICS qualified
  • You have a strong understanding of contract management, change control processes and commercial governance in a regulated utility environment
  • You have proven experience managing a commercial team and possess strong negotiation skills
  • You're skilled in cost forecasting, financial reporting, subcontract management and can collaborate effectively across design, engineering and planning functions

We're all about finding potential here at Kier, and transferrable skills are always welcome! So, even if you don't tick every box, please apply and we can have a chat.
