We're looking for a Commercial Manager to join our East Hyde STW team based in East Hyde, Bedfordshire.

Location: East Hyde STW, Bedfordshire
Hours: 45 hrs/week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead commercial, financial and contractual management for the East Hyde STW upgrade project – one of Kier's flagship wastewater infrastructure schemes. You'll play a central role in project delivery, working within a multi-disciplinary team and ensuring commercial success from pre-construction through to final account. Working on a Thames Water Major Project under an Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Burgundy Book contract, you'll oversee commercial project management associated with water and wastewater infrastructure projects in a regulated utility environment.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Commercial Manager, you'll be working within the East Hyde STW team, supporting them in delivering this major wastewater infrastructure project. Your day to day will include:

  • Leading all commercial aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and working closely with project leadership to drive financial performance
  • Managing and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors, setting objectives and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
  • Establishing robust cost management processes including forecasting, budget reporting and value engineering initiatives
  • Overseeing procurement, tendering and contract negotiation for key subcontract packages while managing supply chain performance
  • Maintaining commercial risk and opportunities registers, producing monthly reports and providing clear recommendations to senior leadership

What are we looking for?

This role of Commercial Manager is great for you if:

  • You have proven experience on UK water capital programmes with MEICA or process engineering project exposure
  • You hold relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, ideally RICS qualified
  • You have demonstrable experience managing a commercial team and possess strong negotiation skills
  • You have a strong understanding of contract management, change control processes and commercial governance in a regulated utility environment
  • You're skilled in cost forecasting, financial reporting, subcontract management and can collaborate effectively across design, engineering and planning functions

We're all about finding potential here at Kier, and transferrable skills are always welcome! So, even if you don't tick every box, please apply and we can have a chat.
