Design Manager

We're looking for a Design Manager to join our Southern Water Services Strategic Development Partnership Framework team based in Falmer, Brighton / Chatham, Kent / Chichester, West Sussex.

Location: Falmer, Brighton / Chatham, Kent / Chichester, West Sussex
Hours: 40 hours per week - 3 days of the week will need to be in attendance at one of our offices or on site as a minimum. 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage engineering design delivery for assigned projects as part of Kier's £3.1bn Strategic Development Partnership Framework with Southern Water Services. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering projects that improve water safety, quality, recycling, and resilience across a network serving millions of households. This role offers the chance to make a real difference to our environment and communities while working collaboratively with talented teams.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Design Manager, you'll be working within the Southern Water Services team, supporting them in delivering strategic planning, design, and construction management services. Your day to day will include:

• Leading and managing engineering design delivery for assigned projects from definition through to handover
• Line managing Assistant Design Managers and supporting their professional development
• Overseeing engineering assurance processes and ensuring quality procedures are adhered to
• Collaborating with engineering discipline leads to ensure optimal design methodologies and outputs
• Driving innovation and engineering excellence through partner forums and supply chain engagement

What are we looking for?

This role of Design Manager is great for you if:

• You have Chartered Engineer status with a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
• You have significant, proven relevant engineering design, construction and management experience
• You have significant knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex technical concepts accessible
• You hold a Full driving licence
