Design Manager
We're looking for a Building Civils Design / Technical Manager to join our Civil and Structural Engineering team.
Location: Nationwide - travel to the office required with some working available
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

What will you be responsible for?
As a Building Civils Design / Technical Manager, you'll be working within the Civil and Structural Engineering team, supporting them in delivering innovative civil engineering design solutions across major building developments. Your day to day will include:
- Leading and mentoring a team of civil engineers and technicians, whilst preparing fee proposals, managing resources, and overseeing design changes
- Acting as the lead civil engineer on major building civils projects, consulting with planning authorities and statutory bodies on flood risk, drainage, and SuDS elements
- Preparing detailed drainage designs, SuDS schemes, and geo-environmental site investigation specifications to support sustainable site developments
- Carrying out site inspections during construction and pre-development phases, producing technical calculations, drawings, models, and reports
- Coordinating civil engineering design information across disciplines and representing the team at project meetings with clients and stakeholders
What are we looking for?
This Building Civils Design / Technical Manager role would suit someone who:
- Holds a degree in Civil Engineering (BSc, BEng or MEng), ideally supported by Chartered status (CEng MICE or equivalent)
- Brings strong experience in underground drainage design, site-wide SuDS (in line with CIRIA C753), and the civil engineering aspects of building developments
- Is confident preparing fee proposals, managing design delivery to budget and programme, and reviewing technical work within a Quality Management System
- Has hands-on experience with civil engineering and drainage design software such as InfoDrainage and Autodesk Civil 3D, alongside knowledge of BIM standards (ISO19650)
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has experience producing professional technical reports, including Flood Risk Assessments and Design Statements
