Engineer
We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design team based in Gerrards Cross. Kier Design are a top-25 engineering consultancy, delivering a wide range of services across all sectors of the built environment, providing construction-focused, innovative and sustainable solutions. Location: Gerrards Cross

What will you be responsible for?
As Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be working within the Mechanical Electrical and Technology team, supporting in producing compliant designs for the waste water network. Mainly being involved in working on our Severn Trent Water AMP8 Framework, but shall also require working on schemes for other clients when needed, including (but not limited to) upgrading work at combined sewer overflows (CSOs), sewage treatment sites, pumping stations, screens, etc. There will also be involvement in design for clean water networks.
Your day to day will include:
- Planning, organising, and overseeing the execution of tasks assigned, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Working in a team of engineers, designers, and other professionals involved in the project, interacting with clients, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination
- Compliance and quality assurance: Ensuring all designs comply with relevant design codes, regulations, industry standards and Kier Design standards and procedures.
- Promoting and implementing sustainable design solutions where applicable, identifying and resolving technical and logistical challenges during the design and construction phases
- Maintaining effective and regular communication with senior management on all matters affecting output, progress, cost and risks
What are we looking for?
This role of Mechanical Design Engineer is great for you if:
- Degree in Mechanical / Civil Engineering, working towards attaining professional membership to a relevant institution (ICE, IMechE, IET, or similar)
- A general understanding of water network design (waste water and/or clean) and can produce designs compliant to the relevant design (BS and/or EN) and client standards, able to carry out and understand hydraulic design and specify correct materials / components as required by the design scope
- Knowledge in your discipline allied to demonstrable understanding of the role of industry standard design software, working in a multi-discipline technical / engineering team with a track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets
