We're looking for a Road Lighting Design Engineer to join our team based nationside. Kier Design are a top-25 engineering consultancy, delivering a wide range of services across all sectors of the built environment, providing construction-focused, innovative and sustainable solutions. We have preferential access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline, including mega projects like High Speed 2 and Hinkley Point C, frameworks with national and local government and other public bodies, and a range of other interesting projects in every sector of the built environment.

Location: UK wide - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Road Lighting Design Engineer, you'll be working within the design team, supporting them in delivering high-quality lighting solutions on time and within budget. Are you passionate about creating safer, more efficient road networks through innovative lighting solutions? Join our talented road lighting design team working on exciting projects across the UK for prestigious clients including National Highways, Transport for London and Local Highway Authorities. We're committed to fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive and develop their careers.

Your day to day will include:

• Preparing lighting design calculations and technical drawings using specialist software including AutoCAD, Lighting Reality and Dialux

• Supporting feasibility studies and developing budgetary costings for projects

• Ensuring designs meet technical standards and client requirements

• Working with senior team members , thinking through implications of solutions and discussing concerns with the team leader; raising issues ensuring effective, high-quality delivery

• Contributing to the development of new design standards and guidance

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Road Lighting Design Engineer is great for you if:

• You have a HNC/HND or degree in an appropriate discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering

• You're working towards or have achieved IEng status through a relevant institution (IET or ILP)

• You have specialist knowledge of road lighting design and electrical design disciplines, comfortable preparing design calculations / technical drawings using suitable software, including AutoCAD (2D & 3D), Lighting Reality, Dialux, CableCalc and/or Amtech
