Engineering Surveyor (Assurance)
We're looking for an Engineering Surveyor (Assurance) to join our Devonport Royal Dockyard team based in Plymouth.
Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks. Eligibility criteria: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, currently delivering an exciting redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. We're seeking an Engineering Surveyor (Assurance) to join our collaborative team. This role focuses on providing secondary survey checks and assurance at key stages of construction, ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained throughout the project. You'll be working in a live MOD facility, supporting our construction process and adherence to specifications. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required, which can take up to 8 weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
What will you be responsible for?
As an Engineering Surveyor (Assurance), you'll be working within the Engineering Survey team, supporting them in delivering precision surveying for critical construction phases. Your day to day will include:
- Conducting assurance surveys for construction of reinforced concrete structures, including pre-pour and post-pour checks, and as-built surveys using laser scanning
- Checking and maintaining survey control networks whilst operating survey equipment to the highest precision within a civils environment
- Supporting engineers with setting out activities and preparing survey reports, drawings, and data outputs for engineering and construction teams
- Coordinating with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment between construction programme and survey operations
- Managing quality control procedures in accordance with QC1 requirements, maintaining the highest standards of traceability, tolerances, and reporting
What are we looking for?
This role of Engineering Surveyor (Assurance) is great for you if:
- You hold a degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction
- You have 3-5 years of experience in a similar surveying position on civil engineering projects
- You're proficient with surveying equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS and laser scanners, plus survey data processing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Cyclone and 3DR
- You have a strong understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civils context, with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- You hold a CSCS Card, relevant site safety qualifications, and are a member of CInstCES (or working towards full membership)
