Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control)
We're looking for an Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control) to join our KierBAM team based in Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks. Eligibility criteria: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, currently delivering an exciting redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and contribute to work that truly matters. The Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control) role focuses on providing essential support for survey machine-controlled plant, whilst also supporting construction checks and as-built verification of machine-controlled operations. You'll be working in a live MOD facility, playing a vital role in ensuring precision and quality throughout our construction activities.
What will you be responsible for?
As an Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control), you'll be working within the Engineering Survey team, supporting them in delivering high-quality surveying services for machine-controlled construction operations. Your day to day will include:
- Checking and maintaining survey control networks, and supporting machine control applications for excavation, demolition and drilling operations
- Creating and checking design models for machine control, completing operational checks, and providing detailed check reports and as-builts through laser scanning and point cloud modelling
- Ensuring survey data is collected and recorded accurately, operating survey equipment to the highest precision standards within a civil engineering environment
- Collaborating with site engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure alignment between construction programmes and survey operations
- Supporting quality control procedures in accordance with QC1 requirements, maintaining excellent standards of traceability, tolerances and reporting
What are we looking for?
This role of Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control) is great for you if:
- You hold a degree, diploma or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying or Construction, with 3-5 years of experience in a similar surveying position on civil engineering projects
- You have experience with Leica Machine Control equipment and surveying equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS and laser scanners
- You're proficient in survey data processing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone and Leica 3DR
- You understand QC1 procedures and quality documentation within a civil engineering context, with strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- You hold a CSCS Card, relevant site safety qualifications, and are a member of CInstCES (or working towards full membership) or another professional body
