We're looking for an Environment Manager to join our Infrastructure, Natural Resources team based in Maple Lodge Treatment Works, Rickmansworth.

Location: Maple Lodge Treatment Works, Rickmansworth
Hours: Project working hours - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Environment Manager to join an exciting major project for our client, Thames Water. You'll oversee all environmental matters, drive sustainability and ensure we're meeting our client's expectations for this project. You'll be an integral part of the project team, ensuring environmental aspects are integrated and planned from the outline and detailed design phase, construction, commissioning through to handover of the completed assets. You'll also oversee the environmental consultants for the project and be supported by the Water Business Unit Senior Environmental Manager as part of the wider Water Business Unit Environment team.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Environment Manager, you'll be working within the Infrastructure, Natural Resources team, supporting them in leading legal compliance and delivering environmental and sustainability outcomes. Your day to day will include:

  • Ensuring appropriate licences, permits and consents are obtained and conditions are met
  • Overseeing environmental monitoring and audit programmes, and managing environmental consultants where required
  • Providing technical advice to the project team on all aspects of environmental management and compliance
  • Leading on project sustainability targets covering environmental compliance, carbon reduction and biodiversity
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, regulatory bodies and subcontractors to drive best practice

What are we looking for?

This role of Environment Manager is great for you if:

  • You have proven experience working in an environmental management role within the infrastructure or construction sectors
  • You hold an environmental-related degree and are a full member of a professional body such as IEMA, CIWEM or CIWM
  • You have a detailed understanding of environmental legislation, impact mitigation and dealing with statutory authorities
  • You have excellent communication skills and can effectively explain environmental risks and controls to different audiences
  • You have experience working under an environmental permit, marine licence or other licences and consents, plus working knowledge of ISO 14001
