HGV / Tarmac Operative
We're looking for a HGV / Tarmac Operative to join our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team based in Paignton
Location: Paignton
Hours: 45 hours per week over Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis
Our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks division brings the built environment to life, keeping people and businesses connected. In this role, you will be working on our South West Water framework, where we work on repairs and maintenance services to provide reliable, efficient, and high-quality drinking water and waste water services.
What will you be responsible for?
As an HGV Driver & Tarmac Operative, you'll be a vital part of Kier's Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team, supporting reinstatement works on the South West Water contract. You'll operate HGV vehicles to transport materials and equipment and carry out high-quality tarmac reinstatement following excavation works for water mains repairs, new connections, and other essential utilities projects—ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards throughout..
Your day to day will include:
- Carry out high-quality reinstatement works (tarmac, concrete, modular paving) following excavation.
- Ensure reinstatement meets HAUC and local authority specifications.
- Operate plant and machinery safely (e.g., rollers, compactors).
- Using a tablet to receive job updates, complete risk assessments, and record quality checks.
- Work collaboratively with excavation and repair teams to meet deadlines.
What are we looking for?
This role of HGV/ Tarmac operative is great for you if you hold:
- Previous experience in highway reinstatement or utilities reinstatement.
- Full HGV/LGV Driving Licence
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver quality results.
- It would be an advantage if you held a CSCS card, EUSR Water Hygiene, and NRSWA certification, however training can be provided
