Highways Maintenance Operative
We're looking for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Somerset team based in Minehead.
Location: Minehead, Somerset - Site based
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: From £27,976 plus overtime, call out and standby

You'll be part of a supportive team, responding to defects, carrying out reactive works, and supporting emergency responses and winter maintenance activities when needed. What will you be responsible for?
As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you'll be working within the highways maintenance team, supporting them in delivering efficient and timely highway services. Your day to day will include:
- Responding to highway defects within designated timescales, including installing and removing emergency traffic management signage
- Delivering minor improvement works to enhance the Somerset network
- Using tablet devices to provide accurate records of works and incidents
- Operating a variety of plant and equipment safely and effectively
- Promoting customer care by working closely with colleagues and interacting politely with clients and the general public
What are we looking for?
This role of Highways Maintenance Operative is great for you if:
- You hold a Full driving licence
- You're self-motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills
- You're capable of working under pressure in a safety-critical role
- You enjoy working as part of a team whilst also being able to work independently with minimal supervision
- You're committed to promoting health and safety in the workplace
