Highways Maintenance Operative

We're looking for a Highways Operative to join our team based in Brixworth, Northamptonshire.

Location: Brixworth, Northamptonshire
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £28,000 to £29,800 per annum depending on experience and qualifications

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highways maintenance team, where you'll play a vital role in delivering essential carriageway, footway and drainage works across the local area. As part of a close-knit team, you'll contribute to improving and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps our communities connected and safe.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Highways Operative, you'll be working within the maintenance team, supporting them in delivering high-quality highway repairs and improvements. Your day to day will include:

  • Operating light plant equipment including compressors, rollers, disc cutters and vibrating plates, whilst maintaining their daily upkeep
  • Assisting skilled team members with kerbing, drainage, paving, bricklaying and surfacing works
  • Excavating materials using hand and powered tools safely and efficiently
  • General site duties including sweeping, cleaning, litter picking and handling materials and equipment
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive working environment for all team members

What are we looking for?

This role of Highways Operative is great for you if:

  • You have previous experience working in highway maintenance or a similar field
  • You hold relevant certificates and qualifications for this type of work
  • You're collaborative and enjoy working closely with others to achieve shared goals
  • You're reliable, trusted and committed to delivering work safely and to a high standard
  • You have a valid driving license
