We're looking for two Building Surveyor Team Leads to join our Architecture & Building Consultancy team within Kier Design and to manage a team of Building Surveyors based out of our offices in Speke or Nottingham/Lincoln .

Location: Speke or Nottingham/Lincoln – hybrid working is available, blending working remotely with working from the office.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Salary: Starting from £52,000 per annum

We're looking for a Building Surveying Team Lead to deliver and manage the delivery of high-quality Building Surveying services to a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients.

You'll play a key role within our Architecture & Building Consultancy capability group, leading a team, driving service delivery, and supporting business growth.

Are you…

  • A Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS or MCIOB)?
  • Experienced across a range of building types and sectors?
  • A confident leader with experience managing teams and mentoring staff?
  • Technically competent in the design and specification of works for the refurbishment, remodelling, extension, repair and maintenance of existing buildings?

What will you be responsible for?

As a Building Surveying Team Lead, you'll take ownership of delivering and managing the delivery of high-quality Building Surveying services to a diverse client base, ensuring all work meets statutory requirements, HSE standards and industry best practice. You'll carry out surveys, produce insightful reports and provide expert advice on building condition, compliance and development opportunities, while leading feasibility studies and shaping solutions across refurbishment and redevelopment projects. You'll also design and specify works, support procurement and manage contracts (JCT/NEC) through to successful delivery. Alongside this, you'll play a key role in building client relationships, supporting business growth and leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing team.

Your day to day will include:  

  • Delivering Building Surveying services in line with statutory requirements, HSE standards, Kier IMS processes and industry best practice
  • Undertaking building surveys and produce clear, actionable reports on condition, repair, maintenance and development potential
  • Providing expert advice on HSE, planning, building regulations and wider compliance matters
  • Developing feasibility studies and recommend solutions across refurbishment, extension, restoration or demolition projects
  • Designing, specifying works and supporting their procurement, ensuring value and quality
  • Administering contracts (JCT & NEC) and managing projects through to successful delivery
  • Leading and coordinating project delivery, managing both client outcomes and internal commissions
  • Travelling to sites, meetings and workshops across the UK as required
  • Managing a team of Building Surveyors undertaking all of the above
  • Acting as the Line Manager for a team of Building Surveyors

What we are looking for?

  • Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS or MCIOB)
  • Proven experience across a range of building types and sectors (public and private)
  • Strong technical expertise in surveying, contract administration (JCT & NEC) and project delivery
  • Commercial awareness with knowledge of procurement processes, ideally within the public sector
  • Proficient in MS Office, with experience using NBS Chorus and AutoCAD
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive, resilient approach with the ability to work under pressure and use your initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and mentor junior team members
