Lead Buyer

We're looking for a Lead Buyer to join our Group Procurement team based in Rushden.

Location: Rushden – hybrid working available, with 1 day per week required in the office

Hours: 37.5 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

What will you be responsible for?

As a Lead Buyer, you'll be working within the Group Procurement team, supporting them in delivering value for money, maintaining procurement controls, and providing a high-quality service to Kier stakeholders.

Your day to day will include:

• Handling procurement ticket requests and generating purchase orders
• Managing or supporting tender processes and pricing activities
• Meeting savings targets and documenting cost efficiencies
• Supporting contract implementation and supplier relationship management
• Coaching and mentoring the wider team and acting as a point of escalation

What are we looking for?

This role of Lead Buyer is great for you if:

• You have strong procurement knowledge and experience in construction, highways, or utilities
• You're a confident communicator with excellent negotiation and organisational skills
• You're commercially aware and ideally working towards a CIPS qualification
• You're proactive, collaborative, and able to support and train internal stakeholders
