Managing Quantity Surveyor

We're looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team based in Gerrards Cross working on the Thames Water framework 

Location: Gerrards Cross, mixture of home and office working

Hours: 45 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

What will you be responsible for?

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the commercial team, supporting them in ensuring cost-effectiveness and regulatory compliance whilst helping to deliver projects that maintain and improve vital public services. 

Your day to day will include:

• Ensuring timely and monthly cost value reconciliations, cashflow monitoring, monthly and quarterly forecasts are produced 
• Prepare project budgets, develop cost plans and estimate the quantities and costs of materials, time and labour required for the projects
• Understand and implement the contractual obligations
• Preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and helping select contractors and subcontractors. Ensure that procurement follows Thames Water policies and procedures 
• Negotiate contract terms with clients, contractors and other relevant parties. Ensure that terms are favourable, equitable and aligned with the project's objectives and constraints 

What are we looking for?

This role of Managing Quantity Surveyor is great for you if you hold:

• Degree in quantity surveying, construction management, engineering or a related field
• Strong knowledge of the IChemE Burgundy Book and experience in water/ wastewater projects
• Excellent numeracy and financial management skills
• Experience in standard forms of contracts and cost control processes, with a view to be able to comment, review and draft documents
• Good understanding of construction law and project management practices
• Proficnecy in quantity surveying software and standard office applications
• Experience co-ordinating and managing a team
