We're looking for an MEP Design Lead to join our Kier Mechanical & Electrical team.

Location: London, good flexible working options available
Hours: Full-time – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead MEP design and co-ordination delivery for complex, major projects worth over £200m. You'll be joining our Kier Mechanical & Electrical (KME) team, an internal MEP self-delivery design and build business supporting regional projects and strategic initiatives across the UK. Working on large-scale, technically complex projects, you'll play a key role in ensuring successful delivery from preconstruction through to completion, collaborating with clients, consultants, and internal teams to achieve outstanding results.

What will you be responsible for?

As the MEP Design Lead, you'll be working within the MEP team, supporting them in delivering high-quality design and co-ordination on major projects. Your day to day will include:

  • Leading MEP design and co-ordination delivery for complex projects over £200m, from PCSA through to completion
  • Supervising the MEP design management team, providing mentoring, performance management, and career development support
  • Overseeing design workstreams to ensure consultants and supply chain partners deliver quality outputs to programme and budget
  • Collaborating with construction design counterparts, commercial teams, and clients to ensure alignment with project strategy and requirements
  • Managing design risks and opportunities, ensuring compliance with Building Safety Act, ISO 19650, HTM/HBNs, and other relevant regulations

What are we looking for?

This role of MEP Design Lead is great for you if:

  • You have senior level experience in Tier 1 contracting with a strong track record in technical delivery of complex or major projects (over £200m), ideally in Healthcare, Life Sciences, or similar sectors
  • You hold engineering qualifications (ideally BEng Hons in Building Services Engineering) and membership of a professional institute such as CIBSE or IET
  • You have excellent technical and digital knowledge, including BIM (ISO 19650), Building Safety Act, statutory legislation, and relevant requirements such as BREEAM
  • You possess strong leadership capabilities and people management skills, with the ability to motivate teams and achieve high standards of performance
  • You're a collaborative team player and clear communicator who thrives on solving problems and building positive relationships

We're all about finding potential here at Kier, and transferrable skills are always welcome! So, even if you don't tick every box, please apply and we can have a chat.
