MEP Design Manager

We're looking for an MEP Design Manager to join our KME team, supporting projects in our Northern region.

Location: Leeds or Manchester. Flexible on location as hybrid working available.
Hours: Full Time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

KME is an internal MEP self-delivery business within the Kier group, supporting regional businesses across the UK on complex and challenging projects ranging from £5m to £150m. With a full design, construct, and commissioning capability and over 50 years of operating experience, we're looking for an MEP Design Manager to join our team and help deliver successful outcomes for our clients. In this role, you'll manage the design process from tender through to delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

What will you be responsible for?

As a MEP Design Manager, you'll be working within the KME team, supporting them in delivering complex MEP design solutions across multiple projects. Your day to day will include:

• Managing all design and drawing activities in line with agreed budgets, scope and programme, coordinating outputs to align with project milestones
• Leading design safety reviews and ensuring CDM requirements are incorporated throughout the design process and deliverables
• Managing external design teams and BIM resources in a collaborative manner, ensuring clear scopes and contractual alignment
• Providing accurate design status reporting and maintaining records of design variations through formal change control processes
• Supporting tender activities and facilitating design handover meetings from bid and preconstruction through to construction phases

What are we looking for?

This role of MEP Design Manager is great for you if:

• You have significant experience as an MEP design manager working for a main or Tier 1 MEP contractor
• You hold a CSCS card and have demonstrable experience in delivering multiple medium schemes or large complex schemes
• You possess a strong technical understanding of MEPH services, components, and how packages interface with one another
• You have proven experience of managing and leading teams to achieve multiple objectives, including high risk and CDP packages
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, forecasting resources, and communicating effectively both externally and internally
