We're looking for a Project Director to join our A9 Framework team based in Scotland. The A9 Framework is a significant part of Kier Major Projects' highways portfolio in Scotland, supporting the delivery of the wider A9 Dualling Programme between Perth and Inverness.

Location: Scotland
Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

As Project Director, you'll lead the early mobilisation and delivery strategy for Major Projects within the A9 Framework, building a high-performing team and establishing the leadership, governance and collaborative behaviours required for successful delivery. Working closely with the client, you'll champion a strong digital agenda and create the conditions for safe, efficient and value-led project outcomes.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Project Director, you'll be working within the A9 Framework team, supporting them in delivering complex infrastructure schemes within a collaborative framework environment. Your day to day will include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and overall accountability for successful project delivery, from mobilisation through to completion and close-out
  • Leading, developing and empowering a high-performing project leadership team, creating a collaborative culture with clear roles and responsibilities
  • Building and maintaining strong senior relationships with the client, advisors, framework partners and key stakeholders
  • Providing strategic commercial leadership, working with the commercial function to establish robust cost control, forecasting and value management arrangements
  • Championing safety, health, environment and quality, setting clear expectations for behaviours, standards and assurance across the project and supply chain

What are we looking for?

This role of Project Director is ideal if you:

  • Hold a degree, professional qualification, or equivalent senior leadership experience in civil engineering, construction, major projects, infrastructure delivery, or a related field
  • Bring extensive experience leading large-scale, complex infrastructure programmes within a Tier 1 contractor, highways, transportation, or major projects environment.
  • Have a proven track record of successfully delivering major highways, roads, civil engineering, or nationally significant infrastructure projects, achieving outcomes safely, sustainably, and commercially.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in project governance, programme leadership, construction delivery, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and commercial performance.
  • Possess exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and provide strategic direction to senior clients, delivery partners, and multidisciplinary teams.
