Quality Engineer
We're looking for a Quality Engineer to join our KierBAM Joint Venture team based in Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks. Eligibility criteria: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, currently delivering an exciting redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. We're seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our collaborative team. In this role, you'll focus on implementing quality assurance and quality control processes, working closely with our project teams to ensure everything we deliver meets the highest standards. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required, which can take up to 8 weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Quality Engineer, you'll be working within the Quality team, supporting them in ensuring all project deliverables meet defined quality standards and regulatory requirements. Your day to day will include:
- Developing and executing inspection and testing procedures to maintain quality compliance
- Conducting root cause analysis and supporting problem-solving activities across the project
- Monitoring construction processes and reviewing documentation to verify materials and products meet specifications
- Supporting audits, quality system implementations, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
- Collecting and analysing quality data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement
What are we looking for?
This role of Quality Engineer is great for you if:
- You're professionally qualified and/or a graduate with quality-related qualifications and industry experience (such as ISO standards)
- You have experience in a similar role, preferably within the nuclear or defence sectors
- You hold a CSCS Green Labourer card and have a strong understanding of quality principles, inspection methods, and testing
- You're familiar with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis, along with relevant standards like ISO 9001
- You have excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, with basic statistical and data analysis skills
