Senior Bid Manager

We're looking for a Senior Bid Manager to join our Pre Construction team based in Northern – Newcastle / Leeds.

Location: Northern – Newcastle / Leeds
Hours: 40 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

The Senior Bid Manager fulfils a key strategic role in Kier Construction, working closely with the wider teams to drive successful tendering and shape opportunities from the earliest stages of procurement across our Northern Region. You can be based out of either Newcastle or Leeds, with occasional travel between the two to collaborate with wider teams. This role has a strong emphasis on first stage bidding, Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and two-stage procurement, ensuring Kier is best positioned to influence design, programme, risk and commercial outcomes from inception.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Bid Manager, you'll be working within the Pre Construction team, supporting them in delivering successful tenders and shaping opportunities from the earliest stages. Your day to day will include:

• Leading first stage bid strategy and positioning, ensuring Kier is differentiated early and driving client engagement pre-tender submission
• Taking ownership of early client engagement, developing strong relationships to understand drivers, success criteria and constraints before tender issue
• Driving Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) approaches, influencing design development, buildability, programme and cost certainty
• Assembling and leading high-performing bid teams, chairing strategy and kick-off meetings to ensure clarity of roles and deliverables
• Collaborating with design, planning and commercial leads to ensure fully integrated solutions and maintaining continuity through to second stage conversion

• You have a demonstrable track record in first stage bidding and two-stage procurement processes
• You possess expert understanding of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and framework and negotiated procurement routes
• You have proven ability to influence projects at concept and pre-design stages, with commercial and technical awareness
• You can develop winning strategies for complex, high-value construction bids with creative thinking and excellent writing skills
• You hold a Full driving licence
