Senior Ecologist

We're looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our A417 Missing Link team based in Gloucester within the highways sector. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile landscape-led major highways project.

Location: Gloucester
Hours: 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…

  • A member of CIEEM, or equivalent
  • Experienced as an ecologist on previous projects
  • Knowledgeable about UK nature conservation legislation and policy
  • Able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Holder of a full driving licence

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Ecologist, you'll be working within the A417 Missing Link team, supporting them in delivering ecological services on this major highways project. You'll be site-based, overseeing the delivery of ecological mitigation including the construction of a green bridge, numerous wildlife crossings and vast areas of habitat creation. Working collaboratively with the project team, you'll supervise contractors ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, planning conditions and associated documents. This role offers the chance to make a real difference to the environment whilst developing your expertise across a range of sectors.

Your day to day will include:

  • Leading on the delivery of ecological services on the A417, as well as other projects across a range of sectors
  • Overseeing the management of construction risks associated with ecology
  • Ensuring ecological mitigation measures are correctly implemented, monitored and maintained
  • Providing onsite support to licenced ecologists and contractors
  • Producing and delivering inductions, toolbox talks and communications to contractors
