Senior Quantity Surveyor

We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Transportation team based in Southwark.  In this role, you'll work on a variety of essential highway maintenance projects, helping to manage contracts and finances while keeping things running smoothly. In return, you'll benefit from a competitive holiday allowance (with the option to buy additional holiday), a matched pension scheme, and the opportunity to invest in Kier through our Sharesave and Share Incentive Plans.

Can you imagine a world without transport connections by land, sea or air? Neither can we.  At Kier Transportation, we help keep people, goods and services moving. If you're ready to be part of that journey, come and join us.

Location: Southwark, London
Hours: Permanent Full-time – 45 hours per week

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll be part of our Commercial team, supporting the delivery of highway maintenance work. This includes everything from incident response and winter services to planned and preventative maintenance, and managing a client budget of around £20 million per year.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Managing subcontractor tasks – procurement, payments, change control, task orders, and work-in-progress
  • Pricing work and agreeing costs with the client, attending meetings as needed
  • Preparing monthly reports including CVRs, revenue claims, and debt/WiP management
  • Contributing to commercial forecasting based on the client's annual budgets
  • Providing support and guidance to junior members of the team

What are we looking for?

This Senior Quantity Surveyor role is great if you:

  • Have a degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering
  • Bring experience from a commercial or highways background
  • Understand the Highways Method of Measurement and how to price highway work
  • Can manage large volumes of data and subcontractor relationships
  • Have solid contract knowledge, especially with NEC contracts and different options
