Senior Road Safety Engineer
We're looking for a Senior Road Safety Engineer to join our Kier Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our established Road Safety Team, delivering high‑quality technical outputs across a wide range of highways schemes. The role offers exposure to diverse projects and close collaboration with both internal and external clients, with a clear focus on helping to reduce risk, improve network safety, and deliver tangible, positive road safety outcomes for communities.
Location: Nationwide - remote working available, with some travel to the office required
Hours: Permanent Fulltime 37.5 hours per week – condensed hours will also be considered along with flexibility on hours, just let us know when you speak to us

What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Road Safety Engineer, the role sits within the Road Safety team, supporting the delivery of technical excellence across a wide range of road safety activities. Projects range from small‑scale improvement schemes through to major programmes of work.
Your day to day will include:
- Undertaking Road Safety Audits (RSA), Walking, Cycling and Horse-Riding Assessments (WCHAR), and Equality Impact Assessments
- Preparing reports and documents in line with DMRB standards and client technical specifications
- Conducting site visits during daytime and nighttime, providing technical advice to design teams
- Mentoring junior staff and contributing towards technical excellence and innovation across the team
- Maintaining positive client relationships and attending meetings as required
What are we looking for?
This role of Senior Road Safety Engineer is ideal if you:
- Are a member of a professional body with IEng or CEng status, or working towards this
- Can demonstrate training or competence in specialist areas such as RSA or WCHAR, or are working towards this
- Hold a CSCS Card
- Have a valid driving licence
- Are passionate about road safety and enjoy providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges
