Team Leader

We're looking for a Team Leader Electrical Technician to join our Velindre Cancer Centre team based in Wales.

Location: Velindre Cancer Centre, Wales
Hours: Full Time (40 hours per week) - Continental Shift Pattern: 4 On / 4 Off (2 Days / 2 Nights / 4 Rest). Day: 07:00-17:00, Night: 19:00-07:00 - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead an engineering shift within a modern specialist cancer care facility. You'll combine hands-on technical expertise with day-to-day coordination, working as part of a multidisciplinary Estates and Facilities team. Your role will ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of electrical engineering plant, systems and associated infrastructure, all while maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism in a patient-focused environment.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Team Leader Electrical Technician, you'll be working within the Velindre Cancer Centre team, supporting them in delivering a fully compliant healthcare environment. Your day to day will include:

  • Leading the engineering shift and coordinating planned, reactive and emergency maintenance activities across electrical and building services systems
  • Undertaking planned preventative maintenance and diagnosing faults on HV/LV systems, UPS/IPS, emergency lighting, fire alarms, nurse call systems and medical gas systems
  • Ensuring all works are carried out in compliance with HTMs, statutory regulations and health and safety requirements
  • Providing technical guidance and support to technicians, maintenance assistants and trainees during your shift
  • Maintaining clear communication with clinical teams, helpdesk colleagues and stakeholders to minimise disruption to patient services

What are we looking for?

This role of Team Leader Electrical Technician is great for you if:

  • You hold a recognised electrical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, along with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and ECS Gold Card
  • You have demonstrable experience in electrical maintenance within a complex or regulated environment, including fault diagnosis and reactive maintenance
  • You have a strong technical understanding of electrical systems including HV/LV, UPS/IPS and emergency systems, and can interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • You can work a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern including days and nights, with a flexible and responsive approach to operational demands
  • You have the ability to coordinate and guide others effectively during your shift, with strong organisational and communication skills
