KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, delivering major infrastructure projects at the Royal Navy's Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Vetting Officer to take ownership of the end-to-end onboarding process for new employees and staff transfers supporting this nationally important programme. Reporting to the Security Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring all personnel are onboarded efficiently, professionally, and in full compliance with Ministry of Defence (MOD) and client requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administration, onboarding, vetting, or compliance experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

What will you be responsible for?
As a Vetting Officer, you'll be working within the Security team, supporting them in delivering a seamless onboarding experience for new employees and staff transfers. Your day to day will include:

  • Conducting and managing pre-employment screening checks, ensuring full compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential employee and candidate records using internal systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Responding professionally to candidate enquiries and monitoring performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

What are we looking for?
This role of Vetting Officer is great for you if:

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • You have proven problem-solving skills, using initiative and sound judgement to resolve issues effectively
  • You have exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet demanding deadlines
  • You have proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power BI
  • You have previous experience within onboarding, recruitment administration, or a similar high-volume administrative environment
