Assistant Buyer
We're looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our team based in Rushden.
Location: Rushden - Hybrid working available with travel to the office required 1-3 days per week
Hours: Flexible/agile - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We're looking for an Assistant Buyer to provide a quality procurement service to Kier stakeholders. Working within our procurement team, you'll support Kier Infrastructure by raising and expediting orders whilst helping us work towards being the "Procurement Centre of Excellence". This is a fantastic opportunity to build lasting relationships with suppliers and customers whilst making a real impact on our business.
What will you be responsible for?
As an Assistant Buyer, you'll be working within the procurement team, supporting them in delivering excellent service to internal and external stakeholders. Your day to day will include:
- Managing ticket requests from the business in line with service level agreements
- Raising and expediting purchase orders for projects and site teams
- Negotiating rates and benchmarking high value requisitions where appropriate
- Building strong relationships with commercial and operational teams to understand business requirements
- Supporting sustainable procurement by considering products and materials that offer environmental or social advantages
What are we looking for?
This role of Assistant Buyer is great for you if:
- You have strong organisational and administration skills with the ability to plan effectively in a demanding environment
- You're experienced in working as part of a team and can work from your own initiative
- You have excellent customer service and negotiation skills
- You possess good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with people at all levels
- You're comfortable working remotely and have good computer skills
