Assistant Drainage Design Engineer

We're looking for an Assistant Engineer – Drainage and Water to join our Kier Design team based in Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Location: Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford
Hours: 40 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us. Core hours 9:30am and 4pm. Agile working subject to manager approval.

Are you…

• Experienced in producing engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and models in Drainage and Water design
• Knowledgeable about relevant design standards, regulations, and quality assurance processes
• Able to undertake site visits, surveys, and desk-based research to inform design outputs
• Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in completing tasks
• A strong communicator who collaborates effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and holds a Full driving licence

What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Engineer – Drainage and Water, you'll be working within the Design team, supporting them in delivering high-quality drainage and water design projects efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills and contribute to meaningful Drainage and Water design projects. You'll work on routine and well-defined design tasks whilst gaining valuable experience that will support your professional development. You'll be part of a collaborative team environment where learning and knowledge sharing are encouraged, helping you to build your career and work towards promotion. Your day to day will include:

• Producing routine engineering calculations for Drainage and Water tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Preparing and updating design drawings, schematics, reports, specifications, and compliance documentation
• Assisting in developing and reviewing hydraulic, hydrological, or CAD models
• Supporting site visits, surveys, and investigations, recording findings to inform design
• Undertaking research, data gathering, and technical reviews to support design compliance and identifying risks or issues within assigned tasks
