Bid Writer
We're looking for a Bid Writer to join our Strategic Projects team at Kier.
Location: Flexible, role can be done remotely.
Hours: Full-time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our work winning team, where you'll play a key role in shaping our Strategic Projects business by securing long-term projects and frameworks. You'll be working on detailed, bespoke bids across construction sectors including defence, health, science, and justice. When not working directly on tenders, you'll be involved in varied activities such as gathering evidence, creating brochures, preparing client presentations, and developing compelling communications that tell our story.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Bid Writer, you'll be working within the work winning team, supporting them in securing projects and driving sustainable growth. Your day to day will include:
- Drafting and finalising responses to selection questionnaires and tender submissions, creating compelling narratives tailored to client requirements
- Collaborating with subject matter experts and operational teams to convert technical information into clear, engaging content
- Building and maintaining a knowledge hub of evidence, case studies, and best practice by visiting projects across the country
- Contributing to answer planning and development, evolving drafts in response to feedback and expert input
- Supporting wider activities including presentation preparation, marketing brochures, and awards submissions
What are we looking for?
This role of Bid Writer is great for you if:
- You have proposal or bid writing experience, ideally within the built environment, or transferable skills such as journalism or copywriting
- You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively
- You're proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, and enjoy learning new tools (InDesign training will be provided)
- You have a curious mind and enjoy building relationships with people to gather information and tell compelling stories
- You're comfortable working flexibly, including occasional work outside normal office hours when required
We're all about finding potential here at Kier, and transferrable skills are always welcome! So, even if you don't tick every box, please apply and we can have a chat.
