We're looking for a Building Structures Technical Manager to join our Building Structures team based nationwide.

Location: Nationwide
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Salary: Competitive

Join our award-winning national Building Structures team as a Technical Manager, where you'll play a pivotal role in delivering excellence across complex building projects. Reporting to the Head of Building Structures, you'll lead a talented team of engineers and technicians, guiding technical delivery on diverse projects spanning multiple sectors. This is an opportunity to shape high-quality engineering solutions, nurture team development, and contribute to the growth of our structural engineering service within Kier Design's 750-strong design practice.

  • A Chartered Structural Engineer (CEng MIStructE / MICE)?

What will you be responsible for?

As a Building Structures Technical Manager, you'll be working within the Building Structures team, supporting them in delivering innovative and sustainable structural engineering solutions. Main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead fee proposals, resource planning, and project delivery
  • Manage and mentor engineers and technicians within a regional team
  • Act as technical lead on complex building structures projects
  • Carry out site inspections and identify structural issues and solutions
  • Produce and review calculations, drawings, models and reports
  • Coordinate structural design with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Set and deliver structural design strategies aligned to sustainability targets
  • Lead design input at project meetings with clients and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act

What are we looking for?

This role of Building Structures Technical Manager is great for you if you are:

  • A Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IStructE or ICE, with a relevant Civil/Structural Engineering degree
  • Have extensive experience designing large, multi-storey structures using steel and reinforced concrete
  • Have a strong knowledge of UK regulations including CDM, Building Safety Act and Party Wall Act
  • Have proven experience designing across steel, concrete, timber and masonry to European Standards
  • Experienced in site inspections (new builds and existing structures) and identifying structural defects
  • Proficient in TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, Masterseries and Revit, working to ISO19650 BIM standards
  • Have a strong track record in checking/design review, technical reporting, and delivering projects to budget and programme
